Lets face it… most people get into network marketing to make some money! The intrigue of residual income surely attracts all different walks of life. More millionaires have been made from network marketing than any other industry. In 2011 I took some time off from network marketing and focused hard on internet marketing for our real estate business here in Scottsdale Arizona. I took all the internet skills I learned prior in network marketing and applied them directly to real estate. We doubled our income in 2011. Now don’t get me wrong, I was still making thousands of extra dollars in affiliate commissions from my network marketing blog completely on autopilot. We used those funds to take some cool vacations.

This time off was one of the healthiest things I did for my network marketing career. I literally get multiple offers from people every single day trying to recruit me into their network marketing company. However flattering that may sound, the truth is people are trying to build a paycheck. I can certainly appreciate that, but the timing just wasn’t there yet for me to join one. I made a commitment to my wife to focus on our real estate business and I did not want to take my eye off the ball. Now with that being said, I did know there would be a time that I would commit our family to another network marketing company. It had to be just right for it to work for us.

One of the things that I like to do on my blog is review other network marketing companies and post it for others to read. I would personally review who the owners and their background, the compensation plan, and examine their products. Out of all the reviews that I did there was one company that really stood out to me. So to summarize, the main reason we joined was to create a healthier living environment, have healthier bodies, and have earth friendly products. Now don’t get me wrong here, I knew we had a chance to build a paycheck with something this cool down the road. When you have a stable company that eclipsed $1 billion in sales in the year 2011 that is a nice feeling. I have built residual paychecks in other network marketing companies only to have them close their doors on the distributors. So during my time away from the industry I knew when I went back and to build my skyscraper of an organization we had to have a solid foundation of established debt-free company like Melaleuca.

I certainly didn’t want to join a company that was all hype or had gimmicky products. All the products that you buy with Melaleuca are simply replaceable spending of products you already buy at Wal-Mart, Target, or the grocery store every month. The reason I got into network marketing was because as a real estate professional sometimes you just have slow months. I wanted to have a way to earn extra money in my spare time. A lot of people like to refer to this as Plan B, but I like to refer to it as my plan A in the making. What intrigued me most about real estate was building up a portfolio of holdings that you can earn residual income from. The same rings true in network marketing, but instead of working with property you actually get to work with people. I don’t know about you but people are just a lot more fun than property.

Like most businesses real estate and network marketing both have their ups and their downs. When I first got into network marketing I did not know what the heck I was doing. My intentions were good but I didn’t have the tools sharpened yet to be successful in this industry. I held myself accountable and committed to getting better so not only I could be successful, but I can help others be successful as well. Ultimately this is the one fundamental thing you have to get right to be successful in any network marketing opportunity. You have to help others be successful!

Let me give you a brief background of my journey that has led me to the here and now. My first company was a gimmick product because it wasn’t something tangible. Basically, I got my name on a travel website and had access to some travel discounts. But the compensation plan was one of the more difficult ones in the entire industry. That’s no excuse, I hold myself accountable for my successes and my failures. My next company at a product that was basically a healthy juice priced at 150 bucks a month. My team was growing quickly and we had great momentum but then the company changed the COM plan to make it more difficult to earn money. Within a year the company lost all of its members and closed their doors. That was a tough pill to swallow.

Now in those ups and those downs came some amazing experiences and some amazing new relationships. I met people who helped me get my mind right for the business and I met people who turned me on to Internet marketing. I met people who’d become dear friends. So the way I looked at it I was way ahead. I made a deal with my wife to focus on real estate and apply the new marketing skills that I had acquired. I literally stepped away from the home business industry for just about one year. I’m proud to say that we literally doubled our annual income in real estate.

However, I still believed deeply in the network marketing industry and felt that I had an aptitude to be successful in it. I literally I sucked it all the major companies in the industry and was able to formulate a list of what I liked and didn’t like. Now this comes from I first had experience with companies as well as my research. I want a company that was stable, simple, has amazing products, and the compensation plan that anybody can have success in. Efusjon Decided to Turn its Back on their Distributors and their Families…Now What?

Sadly, efusjon appears to have ended it’s short and wish-washy time in the network marketing industry. To industry insiders this is no shocker. In fact, back in early April I wrote ” If you are in efusjon I would highly recommend getting a plan B going on the side. If you are recruiting people in efusjon it should be because you like the drinks….not because you want a long term residual income” (http://mlmonlinemagic.wordpress.com/category/efusjon-review/).

Some people (mostly efusjon reps) thought I was being negative…actually I was just being honest and speaking from my firsthand experience. I know sometimes our dreams won’t let us see the reality of some situations. As a fellow networker I genuinly didn’t want people to have the kick to the gut feeling that I felt by the ineptness of the efusjon leadership regime. It’s like having a premonition of the the Titanic sinking and you are screaming for people to stop boarding…but they won’t listen. They even were smiling while helping their family and friends board.

The absolute worst part of this whole situation is the families that have had their dreams ripped away from them by greedy and incompetent owners of a business. I don’t think the owners are bad or malicious people…they just didn’t pass the greed test. Maybe it’s a sign of the times. I can say with absolute certainty that the distributors were very talented and were creating a very nice culture. They were clearly not the weak link in the equation. The distributors were the only reason this company even got on the map and lasted this long.

WHAT EFUSJON SHOULD DO?

With owners like efusjons, it’s the distributors who should be put on a pedastool for making it last even this long. If efusjon does decide it would like to make amends….what do I think they should do? They should offer a share of any future retail profits to any rep who was active when they closed the doors on them( and one extra share for everyone in their downline). That would be one way they could reclaim some dignity for their brand. It would bring back at least an ounce of balance.

WHATS NEXT FOR EFUSJON REPS?

Fortunately, there are some great stable opportunities for you to consider in todays marketplace. Efusjon was the most unstable of MLM companies ever since they were bait and switching the comp plan in 2009. Any move you make from here will be a HUGE step up….. and hopefully you will have renewed entrepreneurial excitement.
